Frequently Asked Questions
Can you pick me up from my hotel?
Most definitely! We believe our door-to-door service makes Spirit of the Fleurieu Tours the most convenient choice for you. There’s no need for you to find a central pick-up location. We’ll come to your hotel if you are staying in an Adelaide CBD hotel or in most areas adjacent to the CBD. Arrangements for pick-ups at other hotels or locations can also be arranged, depending on location and the tour schedule for the day.
Do you pick up outside the Adelaide CBD?
Yes we can pick up from the following locations; Adelaide Airport / Glenelg / Victor Harbor / Goolwa and other Fleurieu Peninsula locations. Please contact us to arrange.
How many will be on the tour?
Our tours can take 2-13 people and most tours run with approximately 6-8 passengers.
Can I drink alcohol on the bus?
Sorry, no. Here’s why: Combined with the wines you are tasting at the wineries, this extra drinking very often leads to some members of your group becoming inebriated, and possibly getting sick or passing out. Tasting rooms will refuse to serve intoxicated guests and your tour may have to end early. We want to help make yours a successful tour in which everyone in your party has a wonderful time. Rest assured, you will have ample opportunity to enjoy yourselves throughout the day.
We guarantee it.
How many people can we fit on the bus?
Our buses sit between 13 and 24 passengers.
May we bring our kids along on our tour?
Yes! Your kids are welcome on the tour. Of course, if they are underage, they will not be able to taste any wine at all. However, we will do our best to find wineries that are family friendly.
Do you cater for special dietary requirements?
All of our lunch venues are well equipped to handle most dietary restrictions (gluten free, vegetarian dishes, etc.) and special request; though it is best to give us 24-48 hours advance notice to make arrangements for you. Please make sure to mention this when booking your tour.
How can I book?
You can book through our online booking form (Hyperlink to booking form), by phoning us on 0498 326 739 or send us an email (Hyperlink to email address).
I am travelling by myself; can I join in on a small group tour?
If seats are available, you can join in provided we have a minimum of 2 guests booked. If at the time of your enquiry we have no other bookings, we can put you on a waiting list and will contact you as soon as we have the minimum passengers to proceed.
Can I change the itinerary of one of your tours?
Yes. We recommend a ‘Touring Your Won Way’ private tour – this way we can tailor the itinerary to meet your needs. Just ask for details about a private group tour.
Can you arrange airport transfers?
Yes, this is possible. Please contact us about it.
Do you do private tours for individuals and couples?
We certainly do. Please contact us to arrange.
Can I book multiple pickups/drop offs from different locations?
Yes, on your private charter you can book as many pick-ups/drop-offs as you like. Just bear in mind that the more collections/drop offs you include, the less time you will have on your actual charter, as the price of charter is from pickup at the first address to drop off at the last address.
What are wine tasting fees? How much are they?
These fees are charged by wineries to compensate them for the wines they pour. These fees can vary widely from one winery to another. The average tasting fee is currently about $5 to $15 per person per cellar-door and in some cases redeemable upon purchase of wine. This can be negotiated at time of booking.
May I have the tasting fees included on my tour bill?
Yes. We charge a small fee to organise this.
How are our wineries selected?
If there are specific wineries you’d like to see, we’ll start there. We’re happy to schedule your tasting appointments into the wineries of your choice. Same thing if you have particular types of wine or particular experiences you’d like to try. We’ll help you select your wineries based on these preferences, and other factors, such as location considerations, appointment availability and our knowledge of great tasting experiences.
We like to visit very specific wineries. Is this possible?
Yes. We’ll do our best to accommodate any specific requests, providing those wineries will grant the appointments, and that the property is accessible to the vehicle and that the tour itinerary is logistically feasible. Please give us a call or include your desired wineries in the booking form.
Do I need to make bookings for wine tastings, or can we just show up on the day?
All wineries require a booking for tastings for groups of 6 or more, and the larger the group the more important it is to have a booking. Venues often book out weeks in advance and might physically not be able to cater for you if you show up unannounced. Please allow at least 2 weeks’ notice for bookings of large groups.
Having said that, we always check and reconfirm bookings with venues before your day of travel to make sure everything works smoothly on the day.
Smaller groups usually don’t need bookings and are a bit more flexible on the day but as a courtesy we still let the venues know you are coming. We have very good business relationships with the wineries which we strive to maintain.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Yes, in order to secure your seat on the tour or bus charter a deposit must be made. Remaining payment is required to be made up to 2 weeks before the tour commences.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand things change and try to be as flexible as we can be. However, our policy is as follows;
- Days – 24 Hours – 50% of Fare
- Within 24 Hours – 100% of Fare
If you fail to join a tour, join it after departure, or leave it prior to its completion, no refund can be made. The above cancellation fees are in addition to fees which may be levied by travel agents or third-party tour and transport operator cancellation fees. It is necessary to reconfirm tours 48 hours prior to travel – failure to do so may result in the booking being cancelled and fees charged.
